For those lovely citizens of the U.S. that live along any coast of the United States or even in other countries bordering water, what would their reaction be if they were told that eventually those coasts will no longer exist due to the effects of global warming! Global warming will impact every aspect of our lives and issues like higher temperatures, changing landscapes, lose of wildlife, rising seas, increased risks of wildfires, droughts, and floods, stronger storms and increased storm damage, more health related illnesses and last but not least major economic losses. Sounds like a major natural disaster right, but not exactly. Global Warming happens over a period were many people's life cycles come and go. Some experts say due to the rapid climate change caused by global warming may cause 1/4 of the Earth's species to become extinct by 2050. These effects are starting now for instance, in the last week or so, the U.S. state of Florida whats to break into two smaller states and leave the entire pan handle of Florida vacant so when waters rise no one will be living there to feel its effects. Florida wants to split the top part of the state into East and West Florida. However, the oceans will rise a lot more than the expected six feet soon because polar icecaps from Antarctica are breaking off and falling into the ocean which eventually could cause the ocean level to rise more than 20 feet with waves over 35 feet. The Earth is heating up more drastically than we can be ready but still people believe it all means nothing. Experts even believe it may only take 100 years for the ocean levels to rise over three feet. A three foot rise in ocean levels would flood every city on the East Coast of the United States from Miami to Boston. I'm not going to get into every impact because we would be here forever so read on with this link....Effects of Global Warming
As I'm not a scientist or will try to be one, I don't know if it really does exist. What I do know is that the Government does spend majorly in research of Global Warming and that they are pro global warming, so the results might be actually smudged to show that GB exists. For an example, when an independent agency and a agency funded by the sugar foundation researched if sugar was affecting people's risk of diseases and weight gain, the funded one found sugar did not, while the independent one did. So I believe they could be smudged, you can check out this website http://www.petitionproject.org/, over 30,000 scientist have signed a petition saying there is no basis for global warming. Even so I think we /should/ limit our pollution in the area as if it exists, just nothing to drastic.
ReplyDeleteThis is a very interesting topic of discussion and has been for the past many years. I believe global warming will have a significant effect on the United States and many other coastal cities. It may not be of significant importance at the moment but it will be for future generations which is why we should prepare for the future now to reduce damage and costs. Nice information.
